We're IN-COUNTRY! .. Feb.7 Arrival

A quick post from the Nunamaker's house in Les Cayes before we travel to Les Anglais.   What an adventure so far!  We landed in Port Au Prince.   90-deg. and 90% humidity!   We know we're in the Carribean!

We had filled out our immigration and customs forms and we're ready for the long lines!   This was the first line to pay our $10 entry fee :

After the immigration line we assembled before tackling the baggage area.

Jim Shaw was besieged with a number of porters and baggage handlers to help for a fee.   He picked a familiar face and the task to fine and assemble almost 2000 pounds of suitcases and carry-on's commenced.   Here's a few pics :

Then it was time to go over to another part of the airport to get on a couple of small planes for the 45-minute ride to Les Cayes.

This was the group I was in, in addition to three members of Grace Church in Austin, Texas.   The plane was a Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander.   Here's a few pics from our air adventure!  Our others flew in a Cessna Piper.

saying good-bye to the airport

We landed in Les Cayes.   Our pilot, Veymar, did an excellent job!   We then drove to the RMI retreat center at Zanglais.    Here are a few pic's :

This morning's orientation :

We drove back to Les Cayes for lunch.    Here we are, before we make the long drive to Les Anglais.

See my laptop?   Now it's time for me to get lunch before the drive.   More posts when we get back to Les Cayes on Wed./Thur.
