Haiti 2019 (now..2020) Trip * Les Anglais

Jim Shaw notified us (Wednesday morning) : I am writing with sad and disappointing news.  The unrest in Haiti has shown no signs of calming down and at this last possible moment we have been told that our trip must be postponed to another time. That puts us in a situation with a lot of unwinding that has to be done, some things immediately and others can wait for a bit. First call Delta Airlines and cancel your flights before noon today if possible.  Depending on your ticket category they will either, give you a voucher for a future flight (which you will have to rebook by 2/22), refund your money, or charge you $200 to change your ticket to a future date or some similar deal.  Mention that you were on a mission trip, and that the in-country guide told you it was unsafe and not to come. The adventure begins.   After weeks and months of gathering supplies and equipment for our sister church and the village from our congregations, relatives, and friends, ... we met at the church to pack 50-lb suitcases. Here are Patti and her husband Patrick and our super-helper Mary starting with goodies for the ladies' tea. Here's Patti modeling one of the wedding dresses we're taking.   We're also taking men's suits. Thanks to Good Samaritan Ministries for the donations! The goal :  distribute the goods in the 28-29 suitcases, first by type/purpose and then to make sure each suitcase does NOT weigh over 50.5 lbs!  What a beehive of activity.   Like being on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange!    Constant weighing of the suitcases and juggling of materials. We're taking :  wedding dresses, men's suits, school supplies, school art project mater...
